PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. -- Mills University Studies High and Sylvan Hills High Forensics and Debate Teams are celebrating successes at a recent national tournament in New Orleans, Louisiana.
More than 40 schools from 10 states competed recently in the Isidore Newman Tournament. The weekend-long tournament brought a lot of experience and hardware to our Pulaski County Special School District students.
Two Mills University Studies High students placed third in their competition and individually placed in the Top 10 Best Speakers at the tournament. Other students also saw success by placing in their own respective categories.
Meanwhile, Sylvan Hills High garnered Charter status, which is the highest honor that any high school can achieve in the National Speech and Debate Association. Additionally, a Sylvan Hills High student placed in the Top 10 Best Speakers at the tournament and a team advanced to the quarter finals.
Congratulations to all students and staff of both school’s Forensics and Debate teams.
