road work sherwood

SHERWOOD, Ark. -- Sherwood Public Works Department has contracted with Cranford Construction/RedRock Paving, LLC to begin milling and overlaying the nearly 2-mile stretch of Brockington Road between Kiehl Ave. and Arkansas Hwy. 107 next week starting on Tuesday, Oct. 19. The contractor will work from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

To ease traffic concerns as best as possible, the work will occur against the flow of rush hour traffic, beginning on the northbound lanes in the mornings and the southbound lanes in the afternoons. Because this is a major arterial road with heavy traffic, the City of Sherwood encourages commuters to seek alternate routes to avoid delays or build in extra time in their daily commute.

The first phase of the project from Kiehl Ave. to just north of E. Maryland Ave. near Friendship Baptist Church will begin with approximately five days of milling the existing asphalt, followed by approximately five days of new asphalt overlaying, weather permitting. The project’s second phase will continue in all lanes from the joint near Friendship Baptist Church and continue north to Arkansas Hwy. 107.

Complete road striping will begin after the entire route has been overlaid; however, temporary striping will be in place to help commuters navigate the road.

The funding for the Brockington Road overlay project comes from the regular street maintenance budget. Brockington Road is one of the city’s most traveled thoroughfares and has not been repaved in more than 10 years.
