PULASKI COUNTY, AR – Mainline Health Systems, Inc. (MHSI) is thrilled to announce that they have partnered with Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD) in Little Rock to open a School-Based Health Center (SBHC) in August. The clinic will be on the Mills Middle School campus and provide comprehensive primary care and behavioral health services tailored to the unique needs of students and district staff.
The PCSSD SBHC will have a primary care nurse practitioner, a nurse, a PSS (Patient Support Specialist), and a behavioral health provider. Located conveniently on campus, the PCSSD SBHC will play a vital role in the commitment to promote health and wellness in the school community. With a focus on accessibility, quality care, and confidentiality, Mainline Health aims to remove barriers to healthcare and empower students to thrive both academically and personally.
“Having a health clinic in our district that is going to provide a variety of health services for our students and staff is probably the most outstanding thing we can provide outside of academics,” said Dr. Janice Warren, assistant superintendent of equity and pupil services. “Healthy students and healthy staff come to work, and if they’re at work, we can all help students learn.”
By placing health services directly within the school environment, students and district staff will have easy access to health care without disrupting their academic schedules, requiring them to travel far distances, or having to leave work. This accessibility ensures that the entire PCSSD school community receives timely care, addressing health issues before they become more serious.
Chief Projects Officer, Amanda Gilbert, says “our hope is that the school-based health center will improve attendance rates, inspire healthy habits, and increase awareness about preventive care. We are so excited to have a new partner in Pulaski County and be able to serve the students and staff of Pulaski County Special School District.”
The Mainline Health PCSSD Clinic will provide comprehensive care, addressing not only physical health but also mental and emotional well-being. The Mainline Health medical team will offer immunizations, physicals, treatment of acute and chronic conditions, lab work, and more. Behavioral health services include support for well-being, individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, stress management, and so much more. From vaccinations and physical exams to counseling services and support for behavioral issues, the school-based health center will offer a comprehensive approach to health care for all students and district staff. Mainline Health’s mission is to provide the highest quality care services to ALL, and they are so excited to bring compassionate and dedicated health professionals to the PCSSD.
