HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- Students from Maumelle High, Joe T. Robinson High and Sylvan Hills High made a strong showing at the Arkansas Young Artist Association (AAYA) Convention and Competition, held April 18th at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
AAYA, comprising over 60 high schools across the state, has been serving Arkansas students since 1979. For the event, students had the opportunity to enter up to five pieces in different mediums and to compete in the AAYA On-Site Competition. During the on-site portion, student artists are given a prompt to create a piece during an allotted amount of time. Awards are given in each category.
Maumelle High
Returning to the event for the first time since 2015, Maumelle High students brought home six state placements. Students were accompanied by teacher Madison Fontenot.
