Daisy Bates Elementary: AVID Fridays! Our school participates in the AVID program which motivates and provides strategies for students to begin planning for college and career readiness. To promote AVID, students may wear Daisy Bates' t-shirts or other colleges/teams t-shirts on Fridays. Students may wear jeans with their t-shirts. Go Tigers!!! Our theme for this year is "Elevating the Excellence". We want to help elevate the excellence that is within ALL of our students! Thank you for an awesome first week! Good morning. Every Wednesday is early dismissal day beginning at 11:30 am. If your child rides the school bus, he/she will be transported home. If your child is a car rider, please make arrangements for them to be picked up. Have a great day. Thank you
Central Arkansas is expected to feel the impact of Hurricane Laura tomorrow. Based on the most current weather updates, the heaviest impact is expected between 3-4pm. Therefore, PCSSD will dismiss school early on Thursday, August 27. Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30am and Secondary schools will dismiss at 1:00pm. Dismissal times are for both car and bus riders. District offices will dismiss at 1pm as well. There will be no district athletics events on Thursday, August 27. No decision has been made about school or athletic activities for Friday at this time.

Daisy Bates Elementary School is looking forward to a new school year! We are so glad that you are trusting us with your child’s education whether you picked a fully digital experience, blended learning, or a traditional learning environment. School starts Monday, August 24th. School hours (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays) are 7:30-2:30. School hours on Wednesdays are 7:30-11:30. Drop off begins at 7:15 am daily. All in-person students will have their temperatures checked before they enter the building. All in-person students must wear masks. Breakfast will be eaten in the classrooms. Great news! All of our students get to eat breakfast AND lunch free of charge, thanks to PCSSD’s Student Nutrition Dept. and the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. There will only be two days designated for that process which will occur at the back of the school: Aug. 17th (K-2) from 3:30-6:30 and Aug. 18th (3rd-5th) from 3:30 - 6:30. The school nurse will assist you with this process.
