SHERWOOD - 3rd and 4th grade students at William Jefferson Clinton Elementary school created a virtual Black History Month program.
The original program was scheduled for March 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the concert. While the students were disappointed that the concert would not go on as planned, music teacher, Ms. Alicia Amos, made plans to put the program on virtually to showcase the students’ hard work.
“The dedication from students was like none other I’d seen before,” said Ms. Amos. “Students ate lunch in the music room and gave up a few minutes of recess to practice dance moves and to ensure that they had lyrics memorized. Some took the time out to color the background decorations for the stage. Many were rehearsing speaking parts with one another and/or their parents at home.”
